2008 JGB Syracuse Jazz Fest Poster

Artist: Wendy Cross

This year's poster art and  original artwork was created by 36-year old West Genesee High School photography instructor and CNY-based visual artist, Wendy Cross. Ms Cross submitted the winning poster design in the 2008 JGB Syracuse Jazz Fest's first-ever Jazz Fest Poster Contest held earlier this year.

Ms Cross's winning poster design was selected from more than 100 entries received, and selected by a panel of judges which included Post Standard staff artist Peter Allen, Syracuse Jazz Fest website designer Dwayne Maye, festival director Frank Malfitano, OCC Visual Arts Department professors Andy Schuster and Deb Haylor-McDowell. Professor Schuster describes the work as...."a colorful typographic work using text with words and musical phrases related to jazz. The typography creates an exciting and kinetic image of a jazz saxophonist and bass player jamming." The final version of the Official 2008 Jazz Fest Poster was deigned for the first time by the design team of assante design, under the direction of creative director, Leonard Assante.
